PIO JU denies information sought under RTI
Sought information not related to public interest

Jammu, Nov 30: Public Information Officer, University of Jammu has denied information sought student body under Right to Information act, 2009.
According to information seeker, he filed an application before PIO, JU seeking information of few queries.
"How many Assistant Registrar/ Dy Registrar and Jt. Registrar university of Jammu having more than one section under their control. How many Assistant Registrar/ Dy Registrar and Jt. Registrar university of Jammu is associated with remuneration paid to Assistant Registrar/ Dy Registrar and Jt. Registrar year wise to them for last 2 years", copy of application read.
The copy further read that it was also sought that how much fuel consumed by the vehicles associated with office of the controller of examination/ Registrar/ VC/CDC, university of Jammu from last one year. "Provide the detail with entry in the log books of the respective vehicles. And also provide details fuel consumed by Gensets installed in campus. Provide detail of heaters, desert air cooler, fans, LCDs and TVs purchased in last five years, also provide the detail cost of each item separately and what policy is being adopted while making purchase", the information seeker sought.
He further sought: "How many professors in university of Jammu having more than one post. How much disbursement is occurring in the VC's secretariat for electricity, mobiles phone, landline phones per month."
But, the PIO instead of furnishing, had denied the information. "In this connection, kindly refer to the decision of state information commission, file no. SIC/J/A/35/2015, decision SICJ/A/35/2015/137, Jammu 30.07.2015. The information sought by you is not related to any public activity or interest and also does not involve the public interest", official communiqué of PIO, PIO-11/JU/15/1651, dated 20/11/2015 read.
It is not an isolated, the university of Jammu has tried to hide information sought under RTI.
