Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 30: University of Jammu is meting out a raw deal to the contractual lecturers engaged in Distance Education Department during the session 2014-15 by flatly denying them their hard-earned remaining salary for the month of June 2015. The sources informed Early Times that more than ten contractual lecturers who have performed their duties upto end of June 2014 are languishing for getting their pending salary for the month of June and receiving step-motherly treatment at the hands of Registrar JU. The sources told Early Times that inspite of repeated requests and justification given by the Distance Education Department to the Registrar to release their pending salary, the matter was delayed on one pretext or the other spurning the pleas of DDE. Shockingly, a three members Committee was reportedly constituted by the Registrar to look into the matter which was unheard of in the history of University and was allegedly designed to complicate the simple issue of releasing salary further adding that instead of handling such routine administrative matters , the University authorities suffering from phobia of indecisiveness have lately invented a ploy to resort to committees wherever they are not interested to solve the genuine problems of the staff or students. The sources further informed Early Times that the salaries of such faculty having performed their duties upto end of June 2015, were paid without any hitch or hindrance and without referring the identical issue to any Committee, who were engaged in Off-site Campuses of Kathua, Bhadarwah, Udhamapur, Poonch, Ramnagar, Reasi, Kishtwar and Department of Mathematics, Law School, Remote Science, Human Genetic Centre, Women Studies Centre, Computer Science, Management Department, DLL etc located in the main campus of Jammu University. The sources citing a glaring example of gross discrimination within the campus told Early Times that there is no summer break for the faculty working in DDE, whereas those worked in above off-site Campuses and other Departments of main campus were accommodated and released their salaries on the request of their Heads by the Registrar JU despite summer break, thus ostensibly discriminating with the faculty of DDE for their no fault who rendered their duties and asking for clearance of their pending claims from Jammu University and not alms as bounded labourers, they lamented. |
