Zulfkar calls on Punjab Food Minister 11/30/2015 11:23:37 PM Early Times Report CHANDIGARH, Nov 30: Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali called on his counterpart from Punjab, Adesh Partap Singh Kairon here today to discuss the modalities for lifting of food-grains from the mandis of Punjab. The Ministers discussed implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the measures being taken by the two states for streamlining the public distribution system. Punjab is one among the 11 states of the country having successfully implemented NFSA Act in 2013. Zulfkar informed his Punjab counterpart that J&K is finalising the modalities for implementation of NFSA in the state next year. He said the teams of CA&PD Department have already visited other states to study the implementation process of the Act. The CA&PD minister also discussed issues like, advance distribution of packaged ration in remote and snow-bound areas, digitization of supply chain system besides installation of point of sale machines at sale outlets.
