Outcry grows for JU campus in Ramban district | | | Early Times Report BANIHAL, Dec 27: The Ramban district carved out of the erstwhile Doda district has been deprived the facility of a Satellite Campus of the Jammu University (JU) whereas its counterparts Doda and Kishtwar districts have one each. The government has already established university campuses at Kishtwar and Doda districts in while it denied the same facility to Ramban district. In the absence of a University campus, hundreds of students hailing from Ramban district are being forced to drop the idea of pursuing higher studies after graduation as most of them can't afford the expenses involved in the process. A large number of students of district Ramban belong to economically backward families due to which they cannot continue their studies. Several local students, social workers and political leaders of the district said that it is the need of hour to establish a university campus in the district so that the poor students of this district can continue their higher studies. In this context, local senior Congress leader and Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary Imtiyaz Ahmed Khanday from Banihal said that soon they are going to constitute a University Campus Action Committee which would fight for the sanction of a university campus in district Ramban. |
