Yasin Malik, associates sent to Central Jail, Srinagar on judicial remand | | | Jehangir Rashid

SRINAGAR, Dec 27 : Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik along with some of his associates were today sent on a judicial remand for 10 days to Central Jail, Srinagar. Malik was arrested on Friday while leading a protest demonstration from Maisuma to the city centre. The protest demonstration was organized by JKLF against the constitution of Village Defence Committees in Jammu division. The protesters were demanding immediate disbanding of VDCs saying that the members of VDCs have unleashed reign of 'terror'. Malik along with his associates were shifted to Kothi Bagh Police Station and today he was shifted to Central Jail, Srinagar on judicial remand for 10 days. Police has charged Malik and his associates with acts of attempt to murder and waging war against state. Malik and the others were produced before a magistrate and court ordered to send them on 10 days judicial remand to Central Jail, Srinagar. Other than Malik the other JKLF leaders sent on judicial remand to Central Jail, Srinagar include Vice Chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakshi, Zonal President Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Zonal General Secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Zonal Organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Nazir Ahmad Rather, Ishfaq Hussain and Muneeb Javed War. It would be in place to mention here that SDPO Kothi Bagh, Fahad Tak was injured during the clashes in Maisuma following the arrest of Malik on Friday. Fahad who sustained injuries in his eye has since been shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi for advanced treatment. At the same time Malik as part of public contact programme was scheduled to go to Kulgam today and address people there. However, after his detention the programme was deferred by his organization. |
