Terrorists planning to derail Modi's peace initiatives | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 27: The intelligence agencies have warned of spurt in terrorist activities in the State especially in the Kashmir after Prime minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Pakistan. According to the sources , intelligence agencies have received credible inputs that sinister elements in the Pakistan, support by radical elements and also Taliban, will make every attempt to derail the peace process initiated and could plan a major strike. "The PM's visit had this risk but he took it. the radicals , who have grown even problem for the Pakistan, will try to derail this process as they did after Vajpayee's initiative by striking at the parliament. They have stepped and activated their sleeper cells in the state which could help them in carrying out these attacks," said a senior police official, wishing not to be named. Sources said that intelligence agencies have asked the state police that it now seems that terrorists handlers across the border had a whiff of the Indo-Pak ties improving and that's the reason they stepped up attacks on the police and security forces as they wanted every thing to block this vist and death of lieutenant colonel in terroist attack in the Kashmir could be linked to it. "The radicals and handlers having first failed in their first plan to block improved Indo-Pak ties will now go full throttle and they could make a major strike in the State especially targetting Hindus of the Jammu region," said the police official. Sources said another possible measure by the separatists would be to stoke street violence in the Kashmir like they did in 2010 first by making security forces retaliate after major terrorist attack and then provoke people to protest against the killing of 'innocent' civilians. "These are all the possibilities and we have inputs about it. But the Central government has made it clear that unlike other PMs, Modi is very clear such tactics shouldn't be allowed to de-rail his personal diplomacy initiative and he is tough to crack the whip, and that's the reason, we are on toes for some time," said official. |
