| Total Hip Replacement Surgery performed by Dr Deepinder | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 27 : A team of doctors led by joint replacement surgeon Dr. Deepinder Chaudhary performed Total Hip Replacement Surgery on a 26 year man who was suffering from chronic pain in the right hip with limping at 72bpm Healthcare, Multi-Speciality Hospital-Jammu.
Dr. Deepinder Chaudhary told that a patient namely Karanjit Singh, who had chronic pain in the right hip with limping, was diagnosed of secondary Osteoarthritis (drug induced) 4 years ago and since then had been suffering with severe pain and difficulty in walking due to gross shortening of the involved limb. Surgeons in the city advised him to undergo Hip Replacement surgery at a Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi or Mumbai as this surgery was not possible to carry out in any in the Jammu.
"This was a complicated case as patient had suffered severe bone erosion and deformity. Resorption of Head of hip joint had caused gross shortening of 2 inches in the right leg causing limping and difficulty in walking due to severe pain, "he stated. When patient visited at the 72bpm hospital and consulted Dr. Deepinder and. After examining the patient and his medical history, he recommended replacement of right hip and he was confident of successful surgery and significant improvement in patient's quality of life.
"After a fortnight, he (patient) could walk normally without any pain and limping. His limb length was restored precisely to accordance with his opposite limb. Now he is able to perform all activities of daily routine pain-free and is back to his normal life, which was earlier not possible, "doctor stated.
Addressing media person, chairman of the hospital Sunil Sareen informed that for conducting Total Hip Replacement surgery on severe Secondary Osteoarthritis patient with deformity required highly experienced and trained surgeon, infrastructure of super specialty level and Hip implants of very fine quality and all facilities are available at 72 BPM Healthcare. Surgery was performed using advanced hip replacement system from leading US based company on November 28th 2015.
"While the case was medically challenging, patient's poor state of mind due to years of suffering made it even more difficult. Joint replacement is not a routine procedure in Jammu, for cases such as this, patients had to travel to metro cites like Mumbai or Delhi. Since such surgeries require longer hospitalization and post-op follow-up, out of city travelling and treatment causes huge inconvenience to the patient and family. Moreover, the cost of treatment is also high in such cases, "he added. |
