Jai Kissan Jai Vigyan Divas celebrated at Sagy Village

Jammu, Dec 27 : Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu working under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu celebrated Jai Kissan Jai Vigyan Divas at Village Mathwar, village adopted under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna.
On the occasion, Dr Rakesh Sharma (Sr Scientist and Head KVK, Jammu) formally welcomed the farmers of the village and briefed about the importance of celebrating such day. He also informed about the participants about the different activities which are being conducted by the KVK for the benefit of the farming community. Dr Punit Choudhary (Scientist Forestry,) elaborated upon the, quality planting material production of medicinal trees viz., Harad, Behra and Aonla, adoption of proper management practices and their post harvest value addition for which the village is famous for.
Dr Prem Kumar (Scientist KVK) stressed upon the adoption collaborative approach for higher returns from the enterprise. Dr Kamlesh Bali (Scientist Entomology) briefed the farmers about the judicious use of pesticides, herbicides and weedicides for making the agriculture crops safe for human consumption. Kissan Goshti (Farmer scientist interaction) was held during the programme in which farmers of the village actively participated. Scientist provided on spot solutions to the different queries raised by the farmers. Soil test reports of the representative samples of the village collected by KVK Jammu were also discussed during the programme. The programme was also attended by Rajan Gupta (JAEO, Dept of Agriculture). Rampal (Sarpanch) thanked the team of Scientist form KVK Jammu for organizing such programme for the celebration of Jai kissan Jai Vigyan Divas and requested the scientist to conduct more no of such programmes for the walfare of the farming community of the area.
