One dead, eleven including Vaishno Devi pilgrims injured in separate road mishaps

Udhampur, Jan 4: A road accident victim under-going treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) succumbed today while eleven others including the Vaishno Devi pilgrims sustained injuries in separate road accidents at different places.
Police said that a youth identified as Manohar Lal son of Suresh Kumar of Basholi sustained injuries on January 3 when he was hit by an unknown vehicle and later was hospitalized at GMCH for advance treatment but during treatment he today failed to respond the treatment. "After legal formalities, the body was handed over to family members for last rites, police sources said.
They added that atleast six persons sustained injuries when the tempo they were travelling in turned turtle on road at Assar in Doda district.
Police said that the incident took place when the driver lost control over the vehicle. "The injured have been identified as Nazir Ahmed (78) son of Lala Rather , Andul Rashid (45) son of Ali Mohammad, Sajjad Hussain (42) son of Ghullam Hussain, Tariq Hussain (30) son of Dost Mohammad all residents of Bhallesa Gandoh, Imtayaz Ahmed (40) son of Ata Mohammad of Malakpur Bhallesa and Mohammad Yaseen (88) son of Bashir Ahmed of Tanda Bhallesa, they said.
The injured later were shifted to nearby hospital and after preliminary treatment they were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for further treatment.
Yet in another road mishap three persons sustained injuries when a tipper they were travelling in collided with a parapet at Ritti area falling under the jurisdiction of Roun Domail police post.
According to police sources, a tipper bearing registration number JK02AF-2987 coming from the Ramnagar to Udhampur and while reaching near Ritti the driver lost control over the vehicle resulting it collided with parapet causing injuries to three persons. After getting information from passersby, in-charge police post Roun Domail immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured to District Hospital Udhampur for the treatment.
The injured have been identified as Beli Ram (40) son of Teju Ram of Mand, Pikhu (20) son of Shanker Dass of Battal Balian and Raj Kumar (26) son of Chuni Lal of Jammu.
"A Delhi based couple who was returning home after performing darshans of Mata Vaishno Devi received injuries when the car they were travelling in collided with a parapet at Nagrota area, sources said. They said the injured have been identified as Deepan (43) son of AK Ghai of Delhi and his wife Shruti Ghai (38).
Police have registered all the cases and started investigation.
