Can Govt revive Pampore gas turbine? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 4: The state government has said that it would revive dysfunctional power projects. But its seems that the state government is unaware about the ground realities. For example, the gas turbine at Pampore has not produced power for the past few years as the costs are very high which the cash starved state government cannot simply afford. The project which is popularly known as a white elephant by the engineers of the Power Development Department is manned by a XEn , a few junior engineers and a team of non-technical staff. They come in the morning and leave in the evening without virtually doing anything besides gossip and drawing bills. The white elephant consumes so much fuel that the PDD had decided not to run it. However, the machinery costs crores and is gathering rust. Can State Government revive the project? |
