RDD executes cement works in sub-zero temp, violates official order 1/4/2016 11:01:20 PM Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar, Jan 4: Even as Kishtwar is reeling under severe cold temperature and many places in the district are witnessing sub-zero temperature, the officials of Rural development Department (RDD), Kishtwar, are busy in executing cement works at many places. Official sources said the assistant commissioner development (ACD), Kishtwar, had issued a general order No ACDK/2016/7867-81 on January 1, 2016 regarding immediate stopping of cement works in the district as the temperature was not favourable for such works. "Keeping in view the low temperature of the district which is not conducive for the execution of cement works as the optimum temperature required for such works is between 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. In the backdrop of above, it is hereby ordered that all cement works shall be temporary stopped till the temperature rises to optimum level," read the ACD's order, but in violation of this order, some Junior Engineers, VLWs and Junior Assistants of the department were allegedly doing cement works at many places in the district. When contacted ACD, Kishtwar, Akther Hussain Qazi said that directions with regard to immediate stopping of the cement works in the department had been issued and added that all the BDOs and subordinate staff had been directed to implement the order on ground. He assured action against officials involved in violation of the directions issued by him. Meanwhile, Department of Roads and Building is also alleged to be executing the cement works at many places in the district despite the Sub-Zero temperature. The inhabitants of Ward No 1 of Kishtwar alleged that R&B department was busy in constructing the drainage in the area despite opposition by the locals that condition was not conducive for cement works. They urged upon the concern officials to order immediate stopping of cement work in the area and also urged upon the R&B officials not to release the payments against these works being executed by contractors in sub-zero temperature.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
