Protest held against PHE, PWD | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Jan 4: Inhabitants of ward No 2 under the leadership of Mohammad Mushtaq, former Councilor held a protest demonstration alleging acute shortage of drinking water and bad condition of the road. The protesters alleged that despite several complaints, department has failed to repair the hand pump that is lying vacant for the last more than two months. The ward is situated in the vicinity of PWD, Dak Bunglow and many government offices have been functioning in this ward. But the ward has been facing shortage of basic amenities like drinking water, proper electricity, good road/lanes and moreover the heap of garbage at many places has irked the inhabitants. "Following devastating flash floods in the year 2014 the government under State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) has released Rs 88 lakh for Rajouri town but even a single paisa was not spent in this ward" said Mohammad Mushtaq. He added that for the last two months they have been complaining about the defunct hand pump but the concerned officials instead repairing it taking the things casually and the people who were getting water any time from this hand pump are now dependent on PHE scheme which remain mostly out of order. |
