Snap ties with Pak, withdraw support to PDP: Hari Om | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 4: Terming PM Narendra Modi's foreign policy vis-à-vis Pakistan as suicidal and against national interest as well as against the interest of the BJP, Prof Hari Om, former political advisor to J&K BJP president, on Monday urged him to snap all ties with utterly untrustworthy and unscrupulous Pakistan and withdraw support to the pro-self-rule and militant and Pakistan-friendly PDP. "The PM Modi's Lahore visit on December 25 only emboldened Islamabad and its terror modules to further bloody and convulse the Indian political scene and the BJP's support to the PDP despite the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's December 12 Delhi statement that the PDP-BJP formed coalition government in J&K only after seeking the 'consent' of a Hurriyat Conference has simply led the nationalists across the country to believe that the present dispensation in the state is actually the dispensation of the Kashmiri separatists," he said, adding that the nation had never ever expected that the BJP will subvert the national mandate, as also the massive mandate that it got in J&K in 2014. Indeed, the BJP has disappointed and shocked the whole of the nation by resuming dialogue with the aggressive Pakistan and not withdrawing support to the PDP, asserted Prof Hari Om. "Snapping all ties with Pakistan has become all the more imperative given the January 3 outrageous statement of Pakistani strategic affairs experts and former Army Commanders that the January 2 Pathankot terror attack was the brainchild of the Indians and that Islamabad had nothing to do with it. Their statement that it was PM Modi who, unlike Pakistan Prime Minister, yielded by visiting Lahore was nothing but an affront to the self-respect of the wounded Indian nation. PM Modi must appreciate the nation's deeply hurt psyche and fulfill the pledges that he took during the Lok Sabha election that he shall adopt pro-active policies against Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists and undo all the past wrongs committed by the Congress and similar other 'secular' parties and formations. The martyrdom of the seven brave hearts at Pathankot must not go waste," said Prof Hari Om. He added that any failure on the part of New Delhi to review its foreign policy towards Pakistan and take cognizance of the evil consequences that followed after the formation of the PDP-BJP coalition government in J&K would cause irreparable damage to the country's unity, territorial integrity and the very sovereign status of India. "The outraged nation will not forgive the BJP like it didn't forgive the Congress and similar other outfits across the country in 2014," asserted Prof Hari Om. Prof Hari Om also questioned the authority of BJP leader and Minister for Cooperative in the Mufti-led coalition government Cheering Dorjay to make such an anti-national statement as "if the Kashmiri people want Azadi or greater Autonomy, people of Ladakh are not against it". Who in the BJP gave the Ladakhi leader the mandate to make such an unsettling and divisive statement, he asked. The BJP must rein in leaders like Dorjay so that they do not succeed in further muddying the already rather muddied Indian waters in Kashmir. He expressed the view that the BJP will see the writing on the wall and refashion its whole approach towards Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists and such irresponsible leaders as Cheering Dorjay. He also expressed hope that PM Modi will withdraw the BJP's support to the PDP and ask the BJP to play the role of an effective and responsible opposition in J&K. J&K needs an effective and responsible opposition to achieve two objectives - empowerment of the neglected Jammu and complete merger of J&K into India, he said, adding that the BJP in the state at present has the necessary strength to achieve both the objectives. |
