| Tawi Andolan condemns assault on officers by land mafia | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 6: Tawi Andolan voiced its deep anguish over the slackness of the state government in dealing with land encroachment by the unscrupulous persons within and around Tawi river basin and banks, water bodies and forests.
While addressing the media today, Subash Gupta, Co-convener said that whenever any serious attempt is made to retrieve such grabbed land, the land mafia attacks the staff and even the police parties accompanying them. Terming the brutal attack on the staff and police party by the miscreants as an act of highhandedness and violence, he strongly condemned recent assault on police party and damaging police vehicle by land mafia at village Kernel-e-Chak of Nikki Tawi area of Jammu demanding strict action against the culprits as such a goondaism is bound to demoralize police force which is already engaged in combat operations against terrorism.
Condemning the action of Zulfikar Ali, Cabinet Minister for his support and encouragement to said land mafia responsible for prime land encroachment in Nikki Tawi area, he said reminding Zulfkar Ali that the coalition government is functioning upon two fundamentals i.e. good governance and development and hence encouraging land mafia and illegal occupants of state land and River Tawi basins is against these basic principle and such a tendency is against the directions of the State High Court which needs to be honoured by the Minister. He demanded police action against such land mafia and encroachers having come from Bangladesh, Myanmar and other parts of the state. |
