jammu, Jan 6: A criminal turned BJP leader is ostensibly calling shots in the Police department by using his approach to appoint Station House Officers (SHOs) at sensitive police stations in Jammu city and its outskirts.

The "tainted" BJP leader has reportedly assured the police officer that he would get him appointed as the SHO of an important police station on the city outskirts.
Sources said that this BJP leader, who was earlier himself on the police list, these days has become "very powerful" due to his close proximity with a Cabinet Minister.
The BJP leader, according to the sources, has convinced his minister friend to appoint SHOs of his choice but is also acting as a conduit to get the officers of other departments shuffled from one place to another, sources said, "The BJP leader has created an impression that he has become the "Kingmaker" and his minister friend is dancing to his tunes."
These days, sources said, senior police and civil officers usually visit the residence of the said BJP leader, who himself has spent a good period of his life in jail due to his association with under-world elements in Jammu. |
