1/6/2016 11:07:31 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 6: The 'white elephant' stationed in the Government Medical College is gathering dust, rust and depreciation without any use since past more than three years now.
The vehicle allegedly purchased or donated to GMC some few years ago as a 'blood bank' on wheels never ever moved out of the premises to do the job designed to it.
"I am moving the vehicle forward and backward to register its movement as money for diesel has to be submitted so that it could be included in service book about its itinerary," said a driver who was chugging the vehicle within the premises who presented a shocking revelation.
The 'Blood Bank" vehicle has been rated to be carrying an astronomical price tag running in several crores as it is highly equipped with state of art clinical devices has not been put to use on any single occasion which has a wide ranging capability of reaching to the remotes areas for collection and donation of the blood as required. "Since already there is a scam in blood bank in GMC which is wide open to all, this vehicle service has become mockery for the GMC as well as the people who have come to know about this service and are remaining non-beneficial to its use," said a source in the blood bank. He added, "you come to blood bank with red slip demanding any blood group and you are bound to come out disgusting only to find that some commoner would approach you and provide you your required quota on astronomical prices".
The source also said that purchasing or getting this vehicle donated to government college Jammu was a necessity with the college to reach the parameters of the health care on papers only.
Dr.Vijay Sawhney, Associate Professor & Head, Blood Bank did not pick up the call for a take on the utility of the mobile blood bank vehicle standing stationery in the GMC.
Meanwhile, a senior doctor of GMC on the condition of anonymity said ," it is not only the case of the stationery blood bank vehicle which catches the eye in the open, there are many other lacunas in the institution which needs to be brought in limelight".
