Army Chief hints at 'unrest' within armed forces | | | Early Times Report jammu, Jan 6: Terrorists from Pakistan attacking the airbase at Pathankot has triggered unrest within the armed forces, the Army Chief General Dalbir Singh, has made it clear that "India needs to change its security policy towards Pakistan." Referring to the killing of seven security personnel in the Pathankot attack, General Singh said: "Every time Pakistan bleeds us to the thousands of cuts... We just talk about it for a few days and after that we let it go as usual business." General Singh along with hundreds of former servicemen paid homage to the soldiers killed during Pathankot air base attack at India Gate in New Delhi on Tuesday and conveyed it between the lines to the political establishment that "It cannot keep on forgiving Pakistan every time around." An Army officer while talking to Early Times said, "Our policy to defend is being considered as our weakness. This policy has become outdated. We need to change our strategy and policy to ensure that we don't face any such attacks in future. After 9/11 attack the United States went all out and made Taliban bite the dust. US forces attacked the hideout of Osama bin Laden and dropped him dead. Why cannot we adopt the same policy?" Sources said that initial investigations have revealed that attackers who entered Pathankot were send by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and were the part of Jaish, a terrorist group headed by Moulana Masood Azhar, who is based at Bhawalpur in Pakistan. The Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh, who was abducted by the terrorists, too has revealed that the terrorists had come from across the border and were speaking in Punjabi and Urdu languages. The calls made by the terrorists to their handlers in Pakistan are enough to prove that they were Pakistanis and were pushed in by their bosses sitting across the border. Pakistan political establishment condemning the attack is not enough it needs to act rather than asking for proof and evidences. An analyst said India needs to take strong note of the statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office in Pakistan. "Our (Pakistan) Government is working on the leads and information provided by the Indian Government. We would like to investigate the matter." "It's a very disappointing statement. There is no mention about Pakistan would take action. It clearly States that Pakistan would investigate the matter," the analyst added. He said, "Masterminds behind the Mumbai attack are roaming scot free in Pakistan as the neighbouring country failed to nail them. To expect any action from Pakistan is asking for too much." A politician said, "When BJP was in opposition it used to mock at the Congress led NDA Government for not acting against the terrorists. Someone needs to ask them that why they are not taking any action now despite having the numbers and the majority. Such attacks and our political leadership not showing the will and acumen to act are demoralizing our armed forces." He said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi should stop hiding behind the so-called international pressure as it's his duty to save the country first." |
