JAMMU, Jan 6: Brazenly exposed on its hypocritical attitude even on the issues of huge public sentiment, BJP leadership did not utter a word on any kind of aid or relief for the family of Lance Naik Mool Raj of Jakh, Vijaypur of Jammu province who laid down his life for the cause of nation while fighting "fidayeen" strike on Pathankot air base.
Lance Naik Mool Raj, son of Sardari Lal, a resident of Jakh Chandla had joined Defence Security Corps (DSC) in 2004 after attaining retirement from the defence services in 2002 and was presently posted at Pathankot.
The nation lost seven brave soldiers hailing from five different states of Karnataka, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and J&K in the "fidayeen" strike on Pathankot air base.
While the four other states including Karnataka, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana who lost their sons of the soil wasted no time in announcing compensation in favour of the next of their kin, the State Government is yet to declare anything substantial for Mool Raj's family, though, the soldier was cremated amid a tearful adieu on January 4 last.
The family of Mool Raj of Defence Security Corps (DSC), who sacrificed his life during the terrorists attack in Pathankot Air Base, accused that the government has failed to extend any support to the family of the deceased jawan.
Already struck by a catastrophe, the relatives of Mool Raj minced no words in expressing their anguish over the attitude of State Government towards martyr's family.
Darshan Lal, brother of Mool Raj, said that nobody representing state cabinet except the concerned MLA and Minister for Industries Chander Prakash Ganga bothered to visit the family in their hour of grief. He said, though the Minister attended the ritual of Mool Raj's cremation but did not assure any help to the family.
"Karnataka Chief Minister had already announced sum of Rs 30 lakh for Lt Col Niranjan's family while Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced Rs 20 lakh for Corporal Gursewak Singh, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister announced Rs 20 lakh each for two soldiers hailing from Kangra and Chamba districts while Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal too met the families of Honorary Captain Fateh Singh and Havaldar Kulwant Singh and assured them all possible help as head of the family," Darshan Lal said.
"BJP knows the art of hoodwinking the people in the name of patriotism and it uses the plank in a very cleverly manner as and when required but in reality the saffron brigade fails to deliver when such things matters the most," Sharma said.
"It played an emotional card in the sad demise of Chamel Singh but did nothing for his family. In comparison Punjab government granted Rs 1 crore as compensation to Sarbjeet Singh' family while the UPA government led by congress also provided Rs 20 laksh as grant in aid to the next of his kin," he added.
Congress leader further said that in the absence of ailing Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh should have reached out to the family.
Ironically, he too preferred to hide himself behind a written statement condemning the attack on Pathankot air base, he added.
BJP is fraught with serious public outcry for bending backward on several of its core ideological issues for assuming power in J&K. Several issues which the party milked to its advantage while in opposition have been completely abandoned after attaining power.
