ULB Jammu convenes meet of Telecommunication Companies | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 6: Director, Urban Local Bodies, Jammu today convened a meeting of all the Telecommunication Companies to seek their views for providing better services as they are the basic service provider to the consumers. Since the Telecom Companies have been striving hard for implementing telecommunication policies in the State, the companies pleaded that in the absence of uniform fee structure they are not able to provide better services to the consumers. The companies were of the opinion that in case Government wants improvement in the Telecommunication service, the Local Bodies is required to co-operate with them. They emphasized that Government should frame a policy so that the services are improved and there should be a single window system for the clearance from allied departments. The telecom companies had gone to the court and got the matter stayed so far as the tariff was concerned. The Government is losing approximately revenue to the tune of Rs. 50.00 lacs per year owing to this reason. The Director enjoined upon the companies to get the stay order vacated so as to proceed further in right direction and both companies as well as the government is benefitted as the benefit ultimately trickle down to the consumers. Director Local Bodies gave a patient listening to their problems and assured that the matter will placed before the Government at the earliest and a policy in consultation with DOT & IT shall be framed so that better telecommunication service are provide to the consumers. |
