LMD Kathua imposes Rs 10,000 penalty for violation of rules | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Jan 6: A team of the Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Kathua conducted intensive checking of various Business establishment at College Road Kathua, Hatli Morh, Hatli Road, and adjoining areas during this week and realized a fine upto Rs 10,000/- from defaulter. A team headed by the Assistant controller Legal Metrology Kathua Ajay kumar Verma comprising of Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua Vicky Sharma during inspection booked one trader for not marking the MRP on the Rice bags net weight 10 kg supplied by the Punjab based firm M/S Focal Point at College Road Kathua. "As such, the case was compounded by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua and a penalty of Rs 10,000 was imposed on the erring trader for violation of different provision of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities Rules, the official spokesperson said. Pertinent to mention here that Department also imposed a penalty of Rs 44,100.00 on the 23 erring traders for violation of different provision of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (amendment) Act during the December 2015. The Department also installed four re-verification Camp at Nagri, Basohli, Preta Nagrota, Sanan Ghat during the last month .Weights and Measures & Weighing and Measuring instruments of 251 traders were re-verified & Stamped and re-verification fees amounting to Rs 46000.00 was realized from traders in these Camps. Besides organizing one major Consumer awareness Programme at Govt Degree College for Women Kathua, the Department also organized four Consumer awareness programme at Govt High /Higher Secondary Schools / Conference Hall of DC office Kathua in view of Consumer awareness Week. |
