Banihal, Jan 6: In continuation to drive launched by District Police Ramban on highway to nab the drug peddlers, acting on a specific information, today a police party led by SI Mohd Irfan Wani, in charge police Post Jawahar Tunnel laid a special naka at National Highway near Tethar Gund.
During checking, police party signaled a truck to stop for checking but the accused driver accelerated the vehicle and managed to flee from the naka. After a short distance, said truck (Tralla) No.PB11BN/ 0419 was intercepted, which was driven by driver Omkar Singh S/O Darshan singh R/O Mondia Paramjeet Nagar Teh and Distt Ludhiana Punjab, on way from Valley to Punjab.
During checking of the vehicle, two plastic bags containing 15Kg and 13kg of poppy straw in 2 bags (total 28kg poppy straw) has been recovered from the possession of driver. In this regard, a case FIR no 3/16 u/s 8/15 NDPS act has been registered in PS Banihal. Accused has been arrested and vehicle seized.
