Punjab based narco-smuggler held with 28 kg poppy straw | | | Early Times Report Ramban, Jan 6: In continuation of intensive drive launched by the Police to nab the drug peddlers and smugglers, Banihal police arrested one Punjab based narcotics smuggler alongwith consignment of contraband (Poppy Straw popularly known as Bhukki) weighing 28 kgs during a naka checking on National Highway at Gund Tethar here today. The accused has been identified as Onkar Singh (45 yrs) s/o Darshan Singh of Mondia Paramjeet Nagar district Ludhiana of Punjab. According to police spokesperson, on specific input from reliable sources, the police team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka on National Highway at Gund Tethar and interpreted a Tralla bearing regd no PB11BN-0419, driven by Onkar Singh. "During thorough physical checking of said vehicle two plastic bags containing 15 kgs and 13 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) weighing upto 28 kgs," police said. Police said a case under FIR No 03/16 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in this regard against the accused at concerned Police Station. |
