HC upholds life imprisonment to murder accused | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 6: A High Court division bench of Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today decided an appeal of conviction in a murder case after 13 years and upheld the conviction of Tarlochan Singh who was sentenced by the trial court in the murder of Parsan Kour. The bench, after hearing the two sides, observed that there was no good reason for rejecting the prosecution case, which is supported by the direct evidence in regard to the involvement of the appellant and said the trial court had carefully and properly appreciated the evidence separated grain from chaff and applied settled principles of law while recording the conviction and imposing the sentence. With these observations, the bench upheld the conviction and sentence and directed accused to surrender before the trial court within two weeks for undergoing the sentence and in case of failure, trial court shall proceed in accordance with law so that the sentence was executed, the bench directed. Parsan was murdered by Tarlochan for diverting water from his field to hers. --(JNF) |
