Medicos, paramedics go on 'strike'

poonch, Jan 6: Blaming print media for highlighting the Farzana Kousar death case, doctors and paramedical staff of sub-district hospital, Mendhar, went on strike for over 4 hours today, resulting in inconvenience to patients.
Block Medical Officer, Mendhar, Dr Zulfikar confirmed that doctors and para-medical staff in SDH, Mendhar, went on strike for four hours. It may be mentioned that a magisterial probe has been ordered into the Farzana Kousar case who died on January 3 last after delivering a male baby due to bleeding.
On the directions of DC, Poonch, M H Malik, Chief Medical Officer, Poonch, Dr Mumtaz Bhatti reached BMO's office and asked the staff to resume work as usual.
Sources said the CMO later denied that there was any strike in the hospital and blamed local media for carrying false stories in newspapers.
Sarpanch Association, Mehdar, president Showkat Choudhary said that media was doing well though some select people do not like their work. The BMO said he "respects media as the fourth pillar of democracy".
