Jammu, Jan 9: In the alleged multi-crore Dutta Finance Scam, 1st Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, M A Choudhary has allowed enforcement directorate (ED) to examine and record the state of under trial Gurbachan Singh Dutta in the district jail during working hours.
The court directive came in an application filed by ED assistant director, Srinagar, Sharad Kumar, seeking permission to examine the accused for the offences of Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, in terms of section 2(2) of the Act as the involvement of persons accused in the case had been noticed in the commission of offences of Money Laundering which was under ED investigation as the proceeds generated from the offences appeared to have been utilized.
The judge, after hearing the special PP, permitted ED to examine and record the statement of the under trial in the district jail during working hours. --(JNF) |
