Parents unwilling to send wards for tournaments

JAMMU, Jan 9 : Non-reservation of sportspersons in various modes of transport have forced the parents to discourage their wards from representing the state in various tournaments.
Sources said that some of the incidents in the past have forced the parents not to send their wards for the participation in the Nationals. They added that like the recent incident of last month, the parents of the players apprehends to travel without any facilities while participating in the games.
A parent of a National player shared with Early Times that the budding players who are going to represent the State of Jammu and Kashmir sans basic facilities. He added that some of the times, the players also were deprived of the refreshment while deprived of fares the other time. He also added that sometimes even the associations charged refundable money from the players which take much time to get refunded.
One more parent added that a month ago around 108 players were forced to travel in general bogie. He added that all of the parents present in the last incident which get highlighted, were not willing to send their wards for any competition after seeing the non confirmation of tickets till their wards stood voluntarily against their parents in order to represent Jammu and Kashmir.
Joint Secy. Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma when contacted shared that the Sports ministry as well as the State Sports council have taken some steps in the improvement of the Sports as the both are keeping a bird eye watch over the affiliated associations. He added that presently, the State Sports Council is withdrawing a sum of the 50% of the charges in favor of the Association taking the players to the National competition.
He also shared that the Council is also giving Rs. 450 per person per day as fares against rent, food etc. for the outstation players and the council is also providing refreshment directly to the Students. He also said that a Screening committee is also framed for the Screening tests which works for the surety of all the facilities as well as the completion of camps and no association is allowed to take the players to participation in any game without the Screening test by the Committee. He added that the council has also directed the associations as well as the persons affiliated to confirm AC tickets for each of the player before leaving for participation.
