Mufti's death aftermath: Babus gossip as people crave for essentials | | | Majid Nabi
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 9: The death of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and 'reluctance' of his grief-stricken daughter and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti to take oath as new CM has left the State headless with 'bureaucrats' running State affairs in a haphazard manner. Notwithstanding clear-cut warning to bureaucrats by PDP not to poke their nose in Government formation, Babus enjoying field days after the death of Mufti seems in no mood to resume their duties. Pertinently, the Chief Minister breathed his last at around 7.30 am at AIIMS on Thursday. Sayeed was admitted with complaints of fever and neck pain on 24 December after which the doctors at AIIMS diagnosed him to have sepsis, decreased blood counts and pneumonia. The moment news about the death of Mufti spread in Kashmir, bureaucrats and other senior officials heaved a sigh of relief and closed their doors for public who at the moment are craving for want of essentials. A senior official in Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department claimed that the officers and officials these days are busy in gossiping and enjoying hot tea with samosa at their cozy office chambers. "The scenario of our department witnessing after the death of Mufti Sahab is worth to see, every official from Peon to Higher-up is busy in chitchat. Some are praising Mufti Sahab for his valiant character while some throws light on Government formation," he claimed. He said that the death of CM Mufti no doubt left a deep void for everyone; however some insincere and slothful elements sitting at the helm of affairs perturbed the whole valley. "Mufti Sahab was the man of character; if he would have been alive he would have definitely showed them doors. It's quite unfortunate on part of bureaucrats who other than following the footprints of Mufti Sahab are enjoying filed day," claimed he. The situation as per sources is no different in other sectors including that of Power Development Department (PDD) wherein officials too have taken people for a ride with most of the city areas reeling under absolute gloom. "The already infamous PDD that often faces criticism for its failure to mitigate the woes of commoners, officials there too have wrapped themselves in thick blankets leaving people in dire straits," sources said. Sources said that even PDD field staff is reluctant to perform their duties with none to scold them for their artificiality. |
