Mendhar, Feb 9: Forest officials, with the help of locals, retrieved nearly 100 kanals of forest land from encroachers in compartment No 136 of Mankote was here today.
Sources said in Nar area of compartment No 136, which consists of 500 kanals of forest land, nearly 100 kanals of the land had been encroached upon by some unscrupulous elements.
On a tip-off provided by a forest guard, a team was constituted under Ghulam Murtaba Qureshi and forester Mohammad Issaq. The team members, with the help of locals, removed the encroachments and retrieved the land, the sources added.
