Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 14: Rejecting the BJP's statement that it will not "compromise on principles" and protection of "public support and constituency" for the party "is more important than jumping to power" as a desperate attempt to win back the trust of people of Jammu, Prof Hari Om on Sunday said the people of the province can't trust the untrustworthy and unreliable BJP. They are already bemoaning their decision to vote for the BJP in the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections and are longing for an opportunity so that they could punish it and avenge their humiliations and insults. "The people of Jammu province can't afford to trust untrustworthy BJP any longer, as it is bereft of any ideology and has no commitment to its constituency," he said, adding that "BJP, unlike Congress, PDP, NC, CPI, CPI-M, SP, JDU, TMC, DMK, AIDMK, AAP, NCP, RJD, RLD and Akali Dal, is the only party in the country that has consistently compromised its principles and diluted its core agenda for power. All these non-BJP parties consider their ideology as sacrosanct and they do not mind losing power for the sake of their ideology, as is evident from their activities pre and post-May 2014, he said. The BJP put at a backburner its core ideology and its chief planks - Article 370, Ram Temple and Uniform Civil Code - in 1998 to form National democratic Alliance and enjoy power and pelf, with the RSS very much on board, Prof Hari Om said. He also said that BJP crossed all the lines in February 2015 to stitch alliance with PDP whose single-point agenda was to get J&K out of the political and constitutional organization of India and create conditions conducive for enabling Pakistan to share sovereignty with India in the state and achieve its ultimate goal: annexation of J&K. "The BJP leadership knew it full well that PDP was an ardent believer in the concept of supra-state measures that aimed at undermining the Indian sovereignty in J&K, rendering the borders irrelevant, restricting the jurisdiction of New Delhi over J&K to just three subjects of defence, foreign affairs and communication and creating a separate J&K republic on the soil of Indian republic, but still it forged alliance with PDP, thus cheating its Jammu constituency and hurting the nation as a whole," asserted Prof Hari Om. He added that the type of power-sharing deal that BJP struck with PDP was a classic example of its politics of bluff and deceit. The people of Jammu province and rest of the country have understood the BJP's politics of deception, he further said, adding that what has shocked and disturbed them and rest of the countrymen all the more was the manner in which it had been taking recourse to policy of political mendicancy since the demise of Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed to please PDP leadership and grab some power. "BJP not only insulted and abused people of Jammu province in 2015 by mortgaging its legitimate interests and stabbed minorities and refugees from the back, but it also further let down and humiliated them and polluted the Jammu mandate after January 7, 2016 by making one appeal after another to PDP to re-stitch alliance with it so that it could again join the government," said Prof Hari Om, adding that it has caused an affront to the self-respect of people of Jammu province. BJP has become an object of contempt and ridicule by requesting PDP on perennial basis for re-forging alliance with it on the latter's terms and condition, he said, adding that for BJP, power, and not principles, matters. Prof Hari Om asserted that people of Jammu province have completely distanced themselves from BJP and they will punish it the moment they get an opportunity. He asked BJP to refrain from indulging in politics of deceit, bluff and emotional blackmail, as it stood thoroughly exposed in the eyes of the people across the nation. |
