Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 10: The vigilance organisation (VO) today produced challan against then public prosecutor (PP), sessions court, in the court of Special Judge Anti-corruption, Kashmir, for judicial determination. The case against PP Sheikh Mohammad Nayeem was registered in VOK police station on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Reyaz Ahmad Mir of Wanihama Beerwah, Budgam, alleging therein that a case bearing FIR No 124/2013 of police station, Beerwah, was under trial in the court of district and sessions judge, Budgam, which pertained to the murder of his father Ali Mohammad Mir of Wanihama, Beerwah. This case, charge sheet of which was produced in the court against 12 accused, was pleaded by Nayeem on behalf of the state. He alleged in the complaint that the PP had demanded Rs 1 lakh as bribe from him for pleading the case. In case the money was not paid, he told him that he would help the accused, he alleged. After repeated persuation, the PP agreed to receive Rs 10,000 as first instalment, he alleged. After registration of case FIR No 04/2014 at VOK police station, a trap was laid and he was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. As investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused for launching prosecution, the challan was produced in the court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Kashmir. |
