Of 82 promoted masters, 35 return prematurely, 47 await repatriation for nearly 3 yrs | | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 10: Money power and allegiance to power corridors seems to be ruling the roost in Education Department, which is also evident from the fact that out of 82 promoted masters, 35 have secured return prematurely while 47 gullible masters are waiting for the last nearly three years for repatriation to their home district. Masters posted in district Doda informed Early Times that a total of 82 masters of district Kathua, who were promoted on 23/4/2013 as masters were adjusted in various schools of district Doda on 27/7/2013. "In the first week of August 2013, all the promoted masters joined in their respective schools in district Doda, but strangely some of the influential masters began their efforts to return to their choice place of posting in their home districts", the teachers said. "Either by greasing palms of officials of Education department or by using their influence, a total of 35 got themselves repatriated in district Kathua prematurely," they rued. Castigating the flawed policies of Education department, the masters further said that they followed all rules by serving in the remotest schools in district Doda but have been humiliated and harassed from getting their due share of posting in home district but the rule violators have been enjoying stay as per their choice due to money power. The masters further said that as per Transfer policy of Education Department, the tenure of posting in Zone-3 schools was only for one year and district Doda is under Zone-3. "Two years and eight months have lapsed but so far there is no word from Director's office, despite repeated appraisals to Director and submission of memorandum on various platforms", a master rued, adding that for the last three months they have been knocking at the doors of officers. "After repeated calls to Director Education, we called on Advisor to Governor on December 23, and also to Commissioner Secretary School Education. We were assured by Director that after completion of winter vacations masters will be repatriated but to no avail", another master said. They further said on February 25, a delegation of Masters called on Director, who assured repatriation after exams. State General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum, Ganesh Khajuria said that time and again they have approached Director School Education for repatriation of promoted masters but their representations have made no impact. "Forum would be compelled to take the course of agitation", he said. On being asked if there is any violation of transfer policy, he said that transfer policy was only in papers and is flouted rampantly. Director School Education was not available for comments despite repeated phone calls. |
