PDP may delay Govt formation till local bodies elections | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 10: The PDP is likely to defer Government formation till the local body and Panchayat elections. Sources said the PDP is contemplating to wait for the elections so as to test the 'political' ground. According to the sources there is strong view emerging in the party that the party can wait for the Government formation and should first prepare itself for the these two local elections as they will allow the party to test the ground. "The party especially president Mehbooba Mufti has now taken a stand that unless Centre responds to her conditions Government formation can't take place. We feel it has gone down well with the people and local bodies elections are the best place to test how our party stand has gone down with the people in the Kashmir," said a senior PDP leader. According to the sources the party president is likely to hold consultations with the senior leadership of the party before taking a final stand on it. Sources said Mehbooba Mufti believes that her stand has helped in stemming the slipping ground which some believe was taking because of the alliance with the BJP. She is also of the view that her stand has probably helped the people to understand she is not in lust for the power as has been alleged but has infact forced the BJP- a party which is heading the Central Government- to wait for her approval. "If the party gets the good result then it will help it more to tell the BJP unless it agrees to its conditions than its final good-bye to it as it can hope to form a Government on its own. The local body elections are important and the party's stand of the last two-months may be tested in it," said a senior PDP leader |
