Srinagar, Mar 10: The recent transfers and postings of policemen can snowball into a major controversy as a few people allege these transfers have brazenly violated police norms. "A few officers of 2004 batch were allegedly given lucrative postings while seventeen posts which were upgraded recently by Home Department on Police Headquarters (PHQ)'s recommendation were completely ignored," said a source. He said three policemen of 2004 batch were adjusted as Zonal SPs just after their promotion. "They were given plum postings despite the fact that 17 posts of DySPs which were upgraded have been waiting for their promotions for a longtime. The upgraded posts include SO to DIG Anantnag,SO to DIG Baramula, SO to DIG DKR range, SO to DIG Udhampur Reasi range, SO to DIG Armed Jammu, SO to DIG Armed Srinagar,Vice Principals for Police Training School (PTS) Talwara,PTS Kathua,PTS Manigam,PTS Shree,Estate/Welfare Jammu and Estate/Welfare Srinagar," the source added. Sources alleged that police norms were violated again by showering undue favour on 2001 batch officers promoted on 2013 , who were transferred four to five times during two and half years of their service tenure. Pertinently, the State Administrative Council (SAC) which met on March 4, 2016 had shuffled the police department.
