Ex-servicemen from different states attend Mega Rally | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 10 : The President of J&K Ex-Services League Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal addressed the Mega Rally attended by nearly 4000 Ex-servicemen/Veer Naris belonging to Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir State and briefed the Executive Committee at Ambphalla today about the Rally which was held at Mamun Pathankot and attended by 21 Sub Area under the aegis of 9 Corps, Lt Gen KJ Singh, PVSM AVSM GOC in C, Western Command presided over the Rally. Amy Commander Western Army distributed rupees 40 thousand each to 11 ex-servicemen/Veer Naris living under penury, distributed 16 Tri - cycles to disabled serving/retired Ex-Servicemen. There were more than 30 stalls comprising of Record Offices of the Indian Army, States Rajya Sainik Boards, Medical teams from Dental Corps, APS nodes, ECHS, AWES and CSD. While addressing the Rally the President of J&K Ex-services League thanked the Army Commander for infusing a spirit of die hard particularly on the borders from Jammu-Sialkot to Khemkaran. While stressing that the Veterans being a great asset of the nation are often neglected. He offered their services and expected due attention with respect from the Army. He said the Veteran of today is no longer interested in a tot of rum or Bara Khana. He retires at 35 and needs a second career definitely which is not available hence One Rank One Pension and demand of enhanced pensions which used to be 70% of the pay till Bangladesh War when it was reduced to 50% for winning the War and at the same time civilians pension was raised from 30 to 50% while they serve upto 60. Appreciating the huge Rally he suggested that the next Mega Rally should be held at Jammu so that the tale of western Command also starts wagging. |
