Jammu, Mar 10 : The state committee of Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) today observed protest day against the government indifference to the 12 points charter demands and its unwillingness to restart discussions for working out concrete steps for resolution of the issues. According to press release, hundreds of workers across the state attended this protest march started from Green Belt Park and was culminated in front of divisional commissioner office Jammu. While addressing the workers Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, President of CITU J&K and MLA said that condition of work and life of working people is drastically deteriorating but the Government is going ahead with labour laws amendments, disinvestment of PSUs and allowing FDI in strategic sectors. He condemned the government of India on granting exemption to the so called start up enterprises from inspection and application of nine major labour law legislations, thereby legitimising the violations. Tarigami also extended solidarity to the struggle of workers/employees in state and banks, defence, Social workers, Angwari, ASHA and Mid-Day- Meal workers, PHE, daily wagers on their respective demands and also the central govt employees including railways and called for launch action against retrograde recommends of the' 7th pay commission. He also appealed to independent employees/workers/unions and federations to come to common platform irrespective of their affiliations to participate in the struggle against offensive of the Modi government on workers and common people. |
