JMC seals two meat shops | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 10 : Due to rapidly increasing illegal slaughtering of animals in the different areas of the Jammu city and to control over this illegal practice going on since long Municipal Veterinary Officer/Zonal Officer-II, (Sanitation) Dr Zafar Iqbal along with field staff on the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mandeep Kaur conducted a special meat drive in the areas of Janipur and Company Bagh near MA Stadium areas of the city. While on checking the team of veterinary wing inspected numerous meat shops especially those dealing with selling of un-stamped/sub-standard meat and buying meat from illegal slaughtering. It has been also observed that these shops do not maintain hygienic environment in the premises as well as surroundings, JMC team warned them and directed to ensure the proper hygienic environment within the premises and surroundings. Beside this, the Veterinary wing of JMC sealed two shops one at Company Bagh and one at Hyderapura, Janipur for performing illegal slaughtering of animals. JMC appealed to all the Shopkeepers/vendors especially those dealing with meat to maintain hygienic environment and make available quality products to the consumers, failing which the penalty for illegal slaughtering and selling meat without license is upto Rs 5 lakh. |
