Rainfall, hailstorm destroys standing crops | | | Early Times Report
Sunderbani, Mar 15: The incessant rains and hailstorm hit several parts of the state in recent days and caused severe loss to standing crops in the Sunderbani and Beripattan areas of Rajouri district. According to locals, the heavy rains and hailstorm destroyed standing crops of wheat, mustard, plantations of garlic fruits plants and Mango orchards. Reports also added that apart from the damage to crops and horticulture, rains also resulted into the death of three cattle which died on spot after a cattle shed collapsed. "Two cattle belonging to Ashok Kumar s/o Girdhari Lal of Behanigala Sunderbani while a cow of Gurmeet Singh of Behanigala died on spot as cattle shed collapsed, reports added. Meanwhile as per locals approximately 700 poultry birds killed in three poultry farms of Kangri area under the jurisdiction of Teh Beripattan. The affected have been identified Sham Lal who lost 150 poultry birds, Gurumeet Singh lost 200 hundred and Rattan Singh lost 350 birds while Four goats of one Suram Chand were reportedly injured. Locals have demanded from the administration to send teams to assess the loss so that the affected should be compensated for their loss at earliest. |
