Jammu, Mar 15: After the State Administrative Council gave nod for the implementation of drug policy that provides for free drugs to the patients in all government hospitals, all eyes are now on the JKMSC, the agency that has been entrusted with the procurement and supply of drugs to all hospitals across the state. Senior officials of Health and Medical Education department told Early Times that since the Governor has given nod to implement drug policy in the State, the JKMSC has stepped up his activities to establish these shops in the hospitals as soon as possible as JKMSC has preferred private medical shops to appease some influential persons, who are behind these shops, instead of implementing drug policy. Moreover, following directions, the administration yesterday issued an order to create temporary shops in GMC&H Jammu and its associated hospitals. "All Medical Superintendents have been informed by the higher ups of GMC&H to create shops within premises of their respective hospitals, "Sources said, alleging that it was a move to legalize, the structure was created opposite side of Emergency of GMC&H on March 12. It is learnt from reliable sources the shops to be established, belong to few influential persons. Sources also said that the administration of GMC&H has 'misled' the Health and Medical Education Department. "It seems, the officials of Corporation and GMC&H Jammu are focusing only on private medical shops and not serious to implement the drug policy, "experts in the department alleged and adding that the bosses who are sit outside are under fear that, if the drug policy would be implement in the State and the propose of medical shops will be defeated. The process has meanwhile raised serious question mark on the intentions of the JKMSC. |
