Police launches manhunt to nab 'Thannamandi car Rape' accused | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 15: Police have claimed to have launched a massive manhunt to apprehend the main accused of infamaous car rape case reported from Thanamandi but the incident has left locals panicky and scared Pertinently in a bizarre incident one person has committed rape with a girl in a car and later escaped from the area taking advantage of heavy rains and low visibility in the area. According to victim (name withheld), who later approached the police along with her family members in her complaint alleged when she was on way to meet her relatives at village Rajdhani and she signaled a car for lift as it was raining heavily. The complainant added that accused (occupant in car) introduced himself as Arif of village Saj and offered her a lift. "However taking advantage of low frequency of vehicles on road, the accused turned the car on a Kachha link road and forcibly committed rape upon her and after committing crime he pushed her outside the car and sped the car away leaving her in state of shock and trauma, she added. "After a while she recollected herself and raised alarm and locals people from nearby houses rushed to the spot to whom she narrated whole incident and with the help of the people she contacted her family members, the victim stated in her complaint. After getting written complaint, a case accordingly was registered against unidentified accused under FIR No 29/2016 u/s 376 & 366 RPC. Station House Officer (SHO) , Thannamandi also conducted raid in village Saj but without any result as the name and the address disclosed to the girl by the victim were found false. The incident took place on Sunday at about 5 pm and since then police has been utilizing every source including frisking of vehicles, tracking of mobile phones to arrest the accused but without any result. Meanwhile after medical examination and other legal formalities the girl was handed over to the parents. Inhabitants of the area have expressed their resentment over increasing incidents of crime in the area and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. Meanwhile, while talking to the reporters Iftikhar Talib, SDPO,Thanamandi said, "Police is on the job and utilizing every resource to trace the unidentified accused and he will be in police net within next 48 hours". |
