| PLA troops in PoK: Omar talks sense, Geelani hails Chinese imperialism | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 15: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is known more for his controversial tweets and irresponsible statements against Indian Constitution, on Sunday lambasted Kashmiri separatists for maintaining silence over the reported presence of 30,000 Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops along the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir.
"How is it that Kashmiri leaders, who have so much to say about Indian troops in J&K, have nothing to say about Chinese troops across the LoC?" Omar tweeted. Omar did exceedingly well to question and lambasted the Kashmiri separatists. His tweet undoubtedly exposed them and put them on the mat.
However, the stand of Omar Abdullah on the presence of the Chinese troops in illegally-occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir didn't evoke a positive response from Kashmiri separatists. In fact, he was attacked by Hurriyat Conference of Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Taking on Omar Abdullah, spokesman of Geelani on Monday said: "The presence of Chinese army in (the so-called) Azad Kashmir is under a mutual agreement between Pakistan and China and it is a part of the Pak-China economic corridor process and the pro-freedom people have no reason to oppose this move".
"China is a strong supporter of the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people so it is in no way fair to compare the Chinese army with such a cruel and oppressive occupational forces of India who are carrying out genocides of the Kashmiri people in a planned manner since last 68 years," he also said in a statement while tearing into Omar Abdullah.
"Omar Abdullah has no moral justification to criticize the pro-freedom people because he accepting the Indian forced occupation in Kashmir and is providing a certificate to their illegal control. How can you lecture people to do such things over which you yourself do not act? It is the hypocrisy and it cannot be the way of a principled man," he also reportedly asked.
The Geelani's Hurriyat Conference, in fact, attacked the lawful presence of the Indian Army in the Indian integral part and became part of the larger conspiracy which was being hatched by Pakistan and imperialist China. By supporting the presence of the Chinese Army in the Jammu and Kashmir territories, the Geelani group established beyond any doubt that certain elements in Kashmir, Islamabad and Beijing have been working in tandem to weaken the Indian control over the country's highly strategic northern frontier. It must cause concern among the Indians, as the conspiratorial activities across the Line of Control have all the potential of weakening the Indian position even in this part of the State.
Besides, the presence of so many Chinese troops across the Line of Control also indicates the failure of the New Delhi's foreign policy towards Pakistan and China, which have been working against India since decades now. It is strange that New Delhi has hardly asserted its authority, which has emboldened both these hostile nations. But more than that, New Delhi, unlike Pakistan which has been bombarding the separatist and militant-infested territories in NWFP/Baluchistan/Waziristan since years now to defend the territorial integrity of the country, never thought it desirable to eliminate the scourge of terror and separatism in the Valley. When will New Delhi muster courage and establish its authority in the areas which have been under the illegal occupation of Pakistan and China for decades? |
