JAMMU, Mar 15: The VOK (vigilance organisation, Kashmir) today presented a challan in anti-corruption court, Baramulla, against then junior assistant of PHE division, Handwara, in a corruption case. The challan was presented in terms of section 173 of CrPC under section 5(1) read with section 5(2) of J&K prevention of corruption Act, Samvat 2006, after obtaining sanction vide order No 34-GAD (Vig) of November 24, 2015 from the competent authority to launch prosecution against Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, then junior assistant of PHE division, Handwara. The allegation against Bhat was that he had accumulated huge movable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. During probe, the allegation was substantiated and a case under FIR No 56/2007 and under sections 5(1) read with section 5(2) of J&K prevention of corruption Act, Samvat 2006, was registered at the VOK police station. The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused for launching prosecution, VOK sources said. |
