Jammu, Mar 15: To ensure speedy disposal of pending complaints and inquiries and enhance accountability and transparency in the sdministration, the state vigilance commission (SVC) today convened a review meeting with the home department to assess the progress of pending corruption complaints and inquiries. The commission asked the home department officers to ensure time bound disposal of pending complaints and inquiries, besides issuing directives to bring transparency and efficiency in the working of different wings of home department dealing with public issues. The home department's special secretary submitted that out of 567 complaints, 375 had been disposed off. In 37 cases action taken report had been submitted, status report for 12 has been given and remaining are under probe, he informed. SVC directed that all pending inquires and complaints, including RDAs, be finalized on merit before the next review meeting on May 11, 2016. To strengthen the internal vigilance system in the department, a "Complaint Monitoring Mechanism" had been upgraded and regular meetings were being conducted to ensure redressal, besides, installing of CCTVs in all jails and issuance of online gun licences. The commission recommended to install CCTVs at all police stations and strengthen internal vigilance in police department. Dispensing with cops' visits to individuals for various verifications was also recommended. The review meeting, chaired by chief vigilance commissioner Kuldeep Khoda, was attended by vigilance commissioners - Dr R K Jerath and Gous-ul-Nisa Jeelani, special secretary, home department, director of fire and emergency services, SVC's secretary and additional secretary, AIG CIV, PHQ, and other senior officers of the home department and SVC.
