KP migrants stage protest, demand release of ration as per old scale | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 15: A protest rally was held by the Migrants putting up at Jagti camp Nagrota in connection with government's apathy of implementing NFSA on Kashmiri Pandit community which has added to the sufferings of the community who have been ignored and deprived of monthly ration supplies since February 2016. Shadi Lal Pandita, President of Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front has said that Migrant community does not fall under the purview of NFSA as such Government should ensure release of ration quota of February 2016 and onwards in favour of the migrants at an earliest. Pandita said that in case the Government fails to ensure proper ration supplies as per past practice approved scale, the community shall come on roads for continuing protest and the consequences thereof shall be the responsibility of the Government. The Committee also held meeting later on to express their grave concern over the police lathi charge on peaceful procession. A deputation lead by Shadi Lal Pandita called on the Relief Commissioner, Relief organization (M) Jammu and apprised him that migrants do not come under the purview of NFSA and demanded release of ration on approved scales of (9kg rice and 2kg atta, 1kg sugar per soul per month. Meanwhile social activist Sunil Pandita who also addressed the protestors said the government should roll back NFSA on Kashmiri migrants and release ration as per old scale. The agitated protesters were pacified by assistant commissioner (relief) Rajesh Sharma who assured the migrants that their demand will be put before relevant fora and a final meeting is going to be held on issue on Saturday. |
