Corruption Case: VOJ produces challan against Fire &Emergency Service employee

Jammu, Apr 4: Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) today produced challan against accused public servant Hira Lal Pandita the then posted as Sub Officer (M) Fire & Emergency Services, Jammu Range Jammu in the Court of Special Judge Anti-corruption Court Jammu, here today.
The challan of case under FIR NO: 27/2014 Police Station Vigilance Organization Jammu registered against accused public servant namely Hira Lal Pandita s/o Shambu Nath of Flat No 23 Migrant Camp-Jagti Nagrota, Jammu the then Sub Officer (M) Fire & Emergency Services, Jammu Range Jammu was produced in the Court of Spl Judge Anti-corruption Court Jammu.
According to official, an instant case was registered in P/S VOJ on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Rakesh Singh s/o Sh Angrez Singh of W-.5 Mandi Kotli Samba, alleging therein that the complainant had applied for NOC (No Objection Certificate) for permission of Fire Crackers (storage and sale) in the office of Director Fire & Emergency Services, Jammu.
"His application was forwarded to AD Fire & Emergency Services, Kathua for field report who recommended for issuing of NOC in favour of the complainant but Hira Lal Pandita Sub Officer (M) then posted in the office of Fire & Emergency Services, Jammu demanded Rs17,000/- as bribe from the complainant for issuance of NOC
On 16/10/2014, the complainant lodged complaint with the Vigilance Organisation Jammu against accused Hira Lal Pandita allegedly for demanding bribe in lieu of issuing NOC in his favour.
During the course of Investigation, the accused Sub Officer (M) was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs17,000/- from the complainant by a team of Vigilance Organisation Jammu in presence of independent witnesses.
The investigation of the case was concluded as proved and after obtaining sanction from the Government for launching prosecution against the accused person, the challan was produced before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu today. The next date of the case has been fixed on April 30.
