Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 4: Family members of a scrap dealer of Bakshi Nagar have accused Police of harassing their son and registering false cases against him. However, the concerned Station House Officer, dined all allegations leveled by family members and lamented that he was involved in some cases.
A delegation of family and friends comprising Shashvat Bakshi, Sandeep Sharma, Rattan Lal Sharma, Raja Singh, Rajinder Singh and others visited Early Times office and alleged that the SHO Bakshi Nagar Ashwani Sharma was continuously harassing and mentally torturing scrap dealer-- Parveen Sharma resident of Baskhi Nagar --for last more than 5 months. They also alleged that the SHO also registered false case against him even as he was a heart patient and confined to bed.
"The SHO had implicated him in false case of firing which was dismissed by the Court and after that, the SHO also implicated him in chain snatching case. Now, he leveled another case of assault it seems, the SHO is misusing his position with some other officials of the police and deliberately proving him a 'criminal', "they alleged adding that SHO and his close aide also demanded money from them to hush up the matter. Moreover, bike was seized by Police in firing case, despite the Court directed to release bike in 15 days, they have released the bike after 4 to 5 months.
Contradicting family claims, the SHO Ashwani Sharma said that he is associate of criminal, who is involved in a murder case in Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. HP Police also visited Jammu number of times to take Parveen in custody as a case also has been registered against him in Himachal Pradesh.
"We had received a written complaint from residents of Bakshi Nagar and a case had been registered in an incident of firing," he stated adding when we went to arrest him, he disappeared and when he came in the Court for seeking bail, he disappeared from the court again. Later, he got the bail and case was dismissed by Court as the complainant registered different statements before the Judge".
He further said that police station Bakshi Nagar has also registered an assault case after received written complaint against him. Meanwhile, Sarwal Police Chowki also produced a challan in the Court in case of snatching and case is sub-judice. "We are asking his family to produce him before us for enquiry in assault case but they have not cooperated with the Police", he said.
