FC Deptt fails to take preventive measures 4/4/2016 11:35:59 PM MS Nazki Early Times Report Poonch, Apr 4: The flood control (FC) department is alleged to have failed to take preventive measures in the areas that are in the close proximity of rivers, nullahs and other water bodies. "Since the district is hilly, several lives are lost every year in flash floods in rivers and nullahs. The agriculture land of locals also gets washed away," official sources said. "Our land worth lakhs has been washed away during the devastating floods on September 15, 2015, but authorities have failed to do anything for us," said Mushtaq Ahmed, a resident of Mendhar. "We are facing hardships as we were not given compensation even for our lands," he added. Locals alleged that the flood control department had failed to anything for the people who live close to nullaha and rivers. When contacted, flood control department Xen Mushtaq Ahmed said the department planned to do something in this regard soon. Meanwhile, locals have urged the government to initiate inquiry in the alleged bungling of funds in the department by some blue-eyed contractors who were alleged to have withdrawn money against 'non-existent' works.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
