Rural people hold protest over flat 'Power bills' 4/4/2016 11:38:20 PM Udhampur Apr 4: Irate locals held protest in Udhampur against the Power Development Department (PDD) for issuing electricity bills on flat rates to the consumers especially hailing from remote rural areas where supply is erratic and irregular. People drawn from different villages stage in Udhampur district, stage protest against power department issuing electricity bills on flat rates to the consumers who are not using the power to this extent. Led by Ganpat Sharma president NGO Dogra Janh Sangarsh, the protestors assembled in front of office of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur to highlight their issue. Addressing protestors, Mr Sharma said that the PDD department has issued flat bills for power usages to the villages i.e. Rs 360/- which they have never used due top frequent and prolonged power curtailments. He urged the concerned department to reduce the power bill which will give a relief to poor villagers.
