Jammu, Apr 6: Police today claimed to have booked a hard core criminal under Public Safety Act (PSA).
According to police spokesperson, the accused has been identified as Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky s/o Mohan Singh of Model Town Gangyal.
Police stated that hard core criminal namely Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky presently staying at Shiv Nagar Seohra District Jammu was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) on the orders of District Magistrate (DM) Jammu.
"On the recommendations of police, DM Jammu vide order 2 of 2016, directed police to detain the Vikramjeet under PSA."
Police spokesperson said that the said notorious criminal was involved attempt to murder, assault, stabbing, rioting, possession of illegal weapons and trespassing etc with the latest being registered in RS Pura where the accused tried to fire on a police party which tried to stop him.
"A pistol, a country made pistol (desi kata) live rounds and sharp edged weapons were recovered from him, police said, adding, "The accused had let loose a region of terror in Gandhi Nagar Satwari, Gangyal and Bari Brahmana localities and has also got 8 more FIRs registered at Gangyal Police Station, 6 FIRs of Gandhi Nagar, 1 FIR each of registered in RS Pura, Bahu Fort and Bari Brahmana.
