Jammu, Apr 6: Forest Minister Lal Singh, who changed loyalty several times in the past to become MLA and MP, on Tuesday tore into the ambivalent and half-baked RSS and BJP leadership and made common cause with those in Kashmir who wanted the BJP-RSS combine not to rake up such issues as Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution, cow-killing and beef eating and state flag.
Talking to a correspondent in his civil secretariat chambers in Jammu, Lal Singh termed the issues like revocation of Article 35-A, consumption of beef and unfurling of State's flag raised by some honest RSS and BJP workers during the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed-led PDP-BJP Government as "trivial".
"These are all trivial issues and we should not raise such issues," he was quoted as saying.
What he said was outrageous. It was an attempt to outrage the religious sensitivities of the Hindus and also an attempt to rub salt on the wounds of all the non-state subjects across the nation in general and refugees from Pakistan in particular. By asserting that issues like beef and state flag were trivial, he exposed his dubious credentials and established that his stand and the stand of Kashmiri fanatics on these issues is the same.
Similarly, by defending Article 35-A, Lal Singh only proved that he hated those in Jammu and elsewhere in the country who wanted equal citizenship rights in J&K like the people of the state enjoyed all rights all over India. He, in fact, endorsed the pernicious view of Sheikh Abdullah and others of his ilk in Kashmir who wanted, and continue to enjoy, all rights all over India but didn't want, and do not want, the Indians to exercise similar rights in the state.
This is the BJP and its spokespersons. The truth is it is not the BJP and the RSS which used to uphold the national cause. Today's BJP and RSS are the organizations in which the rank opportunists, fake secularists, anti-Jammu, anti-Hindu and minority appeasers reign supreme. The worst part of the whole situation is that even the BJP and RSS' top brass have allowed themselves to be surrounded by such dubious elements whose single point agenda is to create a situation that enables minority to establish its domination over the majority and help the secessionists and communalists to promote their agendas. |
