Land mafia in league with officials active in JK industrial estates | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 6: Strong land mafia is active in the all the industrial estates of the state. The mafia it is learnt has plans to approach the PDP-BJP ministers to get the newly approved industrial policy revised to suit its narrow ends. Sources revealed that Various MSMEs have been allotted the land which are still lying vacant and not being used for industrial promotion. "This land mafia is running the show in a manner that higher authorities looks to be handicapped in retrieval of the land," one of the senior officials of the government said. Sources revealed that the higher officials over last 15 years in industries and commerce department including JK SICOP, JK SIDCO are aligned with the mafia as a result the land could not be further allotted to the young entrepreneurs. As per sources during the Governor regime the government had prepared a data about the unutilized vacant land in all the industrial estates with the motive to cancel the unutilized allotted land. The data was submitted to the Governor office. Now sources said that it is to be seen as to whether the present government will act on the report. The Governor N. N Vohra recently has approved the new industrial policy in order to place a check on the mess in the industries department. Official sources revealed that the various directors and the managing directors of the PSU's have managed allotment of prime land in favour of their blood relations who have managed to sell these prime industrial plots at a premium. Sources said that it is surprising that despite the vacant land available on ground the young entrepreneurs are given non availability certificates, as a result the gross of industrialization has a downward trend. Sources said that soon after the PDP and BJP formed the government the land mafia suddenly become active and started approaching the ministers for the revision of the new industrial policy to suit its narrow ends. Sources said that the mafia has started doing rounds of the minister's offices in order to create misgivings about the new industrial policy, recently approved by the Governor. "Their main grouse appears to be against the land component of the new policy. As is known, the new policy has put a lot of emphasis on promoting the legitimate entrepreneurs by discouraging the land blockers/ illegal land holders, who have blocked the huge chunks of land for years together, from unnecessarily squatting on industrial lands, thereby marring the prospects of the genuine entrepreneurs. Sources in the department have informed that these so-called entrepreneurs had even approached the Governor and requested for revision of the policy. According to the sources, the provisions relating to industrial land in the new policy are progressive and will help the sector turn a new page in so far as genuine industrialization is concerned. |
